EMERGENCY

BACKGROUND
THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY
AND ITS EFFECTS ON EDUCATION

Due to the coronavirus emergency, which hit our country in February 2020, institutions and schools committed to ensuring that students could continue their lessons from home. Distance learning programmes were launched across Italy using digital platforms, and many children from disadvantaged backgrounds did not have adequate access to education, mainly due to lack of access to the web, difficulties in learning on their own and limited parental support.

OBJECTIVES
ENSURE FAIR ACCESS
TO
DISTANCE LEARNING

Launched in March 2020, Avanti tutta, avanti tutti was created to provide an immediate response to the social consequences of the COVID-19 emergency and to guarantee access to distance learning for the most vulnerable students and families in the city of Moncalieri, Turin. The project aims to promote the educational inclusion of children from fragile communities through the provision of appropriate technological tools, necessary for online navigation, and educational and psychological support programmes.

HOW WE WORK
DIGITAL DEVICES
AND SUPPORT
FOR
THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED

With Avanti tutta, avanti tutti, we are committed to ensuring access to distance learning for children who struggled with online lessons during the COVID-19 health emergency. Specifically, the project provides the technological tools to access courses and teaching materials; it guarantees study support with after-school programmes to facilitate the learning process and offers a safe listening space for families, students, teachers and school staff.

RESULTS
A MORE INCLUSIVE SCHOOL DURING
COVID-19 EMERGENCY

The project ensured a regular learning path for over 300 students in the city of Moncalieri, providing digital tools and distance learning support programmes. In order to effectively respond to the most vulnerable children’s needs, we distributed 30 hardware and software devices and formed a network of 80 parents, providing remote after-school services and intercultural mediation for families with migrant backgrounds. In addition, a digital listening space has been created, which has already been used by over 50 students, parents, teachers and school staff.
